Conferences and Lectures

 

Jennifer Clement has given lectures and keynotes around the world in English and Spanish, and gave the commencement speech to the NYU (Gallatin) graduates in 2017. As a speaker and Emerita President of PEN International, she speaks on issues such as freedom of expression, writers in prison, and the challenges faced by women writers all over the world.  In addition, she speaks on issues covered in her novels, such as the trafficking of women and girls in Mexico and gun violence and gun trafficking in the USA. She also speaks on the art worlds of Mexico City in the 60s and 70s and the New York art scene of the 80s, which are both covered in her memoirs Widow Basquiat and The Promised Party (2024).
